Two men, believed to be involved in a drug-smuggling ring, were brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with possession of, dealing in and attempting to export ganja, as well as conspiracy to export ganja, are Lamartin Nation and Collin Gray.

The court was told that on October 26, about 4:30 p.m., two female British nationals were caught at the Norman Manley International Airport attempting to export marijuana. When they were arrested, the women reportedly told the police that they had been given the drugs by Nation and Gray. Both men were then arrested at Gray's house.

The women, the court was told, had come to court before, pleaded guilty and were sentenced. The court was also told that the police had collected statements from various persons who said that the women had been seen at a hotel, and that it was Gray who had paid for their stay.

An attorney representing Gray applied for bail, telling the court that he was an instructor at a gym in Portmore and that he lived at a West Cumberland address, also in Portmore. She said the accused was 41 years old and had four children.

He was granted $500,000 bail and was ordered to hand over his travel documents. A stop order was also issued, and Gray is to report to the narcotics police three times a week. Nation was previously granted $1M bail.

The matter returns to court on December 13.
