ISCFA’s wage case against Govt adjourned on Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:22 pm

Lawyers for the Island Special Constabulary Force Association (ISCFA) were left disappointed on Monday when their case against the Government was adjourned in the Supreme Court.

The legal team was expecting that the Court would have started hearing the dispute over the 7% wage increase due to the Association's members under the 2008 to 2010 Heads of Agreement.

However, Christopher Townsend, lead attorney for the ISCF Association, told RJR News that the matter was put off until Monday.

“Unfortunately, it was a non starter (as) the State applied for an adjournment in the matter and they were successful and the judge awarded cost for the day to the claimants and made other orders,” he said.

According to Mr. Townsend, the government team expressed the hope that an out of court settlement will be hammered out before the matter is heard on Monday.

The ISCF Association hauled the government to court claiming that it reneged on a binding salary agreement.
