Brazen thieves broke into the canteen of an all-age school in St Ann last week, making off with all the food stuff they could find but not before frying a few pieces of chicken.

THE STAR learnt that kids at the institution had to go without their regular cooked meal thanks to the antics of the thieves who cleaned out the canteen.

No parcel of chicken, rice, bulla cake, flour or milk was spared, the police say.

Police sources told THE STAR that upon their arrival at the scene, upset school officials were gathered in the canteen and speaking of the break-in which is said to have occurred the night before.

According to reports, personnel at the school turned up for duties on Thursday morning only to discover that the canteen was broken into.

In addition to a ransacked canteen, the stove was left dirty and the oil and chicken remnants found in a pot on the stove, which made it obvious that the culprits had found time to cook before leaving.

"Talk about shameless ... . They broke into the canteen, fried some chicken and then left with everything," Corporal Trevor Cowan of the Area Two police said when contacted last night.

The police say they are yet to identify any suspects in connection with the break-in but say they will be continuing their investigations.
