They fought while he was alive and even in death, they are still fighting.

The burial of a St Elizabeth man was on Saturday interrupted after the mother of his child and another woman alleged to be his secret lover knocked fists in full view of the already distressed family members and friends who were there.

THE STAR heard that the burial of 37-year-old Michael Kingsley was taking place at a family plot at Mocha district in the parish.

Kingsley reportedly died three weeks ago after battling cancer.

According to people at the burial, things were going as planned until Kingsley's babymother arrived.

It is said that upon her arrival about 4 p.m., she immediately and loudly expressed her disgust at the presence of another woman Betty, said to be her 'matie'.

"Yu si from she reach and si di girl, she not even wait she jus' start cuss and a class up di girl," a police source and friend of Kingsley told THE STAR.

Despite attempts to calm her down, the babymother is said to have gone further and allegedly approached Betty, ordering her to leave.

Thanks to the efforts of the men who were present, she was held and the weapon taken from her.

After a heated exchange of words, the two then became tangled in a another exchange but this time blows were being thrown.

"A pure kick and punch dem gwaan wid in front a everybody," James, another witness to the fracas, revealed.

THE STAR learnt the two had been involved in a long-standing feud and Saturday's incident was just the latest episode.

At the end of the bout, the women had to be rushed from the scene as their dresses were ripped, exposing parts of their bodies. In addition, both reportedly suffered bruises, swellings and busted lips.

No official report was made but the police say they have heard of the incident.

"Fighting at a funeral, yes, we heard about it," a corporal attached to the St Elizabeth police said before noting that an entry was not made in the police diary.
