Two St Catherine men accused of breaking into a house, were remanded in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate Court on Friday.

They are Denjah Blake, 23, unemployed, and 19-year-old Nakeha Shepherd, both from Gordon Pen.

Both pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Resident Magis-trate, Valerie Edwards, and were told they will remain with the police until September 28 when the case will again be mentioned.

The court heard that on August 11 this year, the complainant locked up his house in Eltham Park about 10 p.m. and left. Upon returning, he found his grille and door to the house broken off. Upon investigating, he realised several items were stolen. These included a television set, a computer and three wristwatches, all valued at more than $120,000. Five thousand dollars cash was also stolen.

A report was made to the Spanish Town police and an investigation launched. About 9 p.m. on August 20, police got intelligence and went to Gordon Pen, where they found Shepherd being beaten by residents who suspected him to be involved in a series of robberies taking place in the community.

The court heard that the lawmen rescued him and he reportedly admitted to robbing the complainant's house. Following further investigations, Blake was arrested and later charged.
